“Speaking of scores, it looks like they are posting them now,” Jim said, pointing at the scoreboard.

“Wow, we’re in first place!” Jak said, pumping his fist in the air. “And look! Our alternates are in seventh!”
“Wait, see that name Borges up there? That’s mom’s name! More alternates?” Marie commented.
“There’s another Balder up there too. Could that be that Master Chief guy?” Lee wondered aloud.
“Hard to know with how many people there are in the competition…” Jim commented.
“Can we go back to our suite now? I’m hungry and tired,” Curious commented.
“Yeah. Feed me Seymour, Feed me!” Cosmo added, causing laughter all around.
“I must admit, I am rather worn down,” Lewie told them, mimicking a British accent.
“I swear, you three…” Lee chuckled. “Yes, let’s head back. We should discuss tomorrow and anything else we need to buy.”
Jim interjected, “Maybe we can find a way for me to advance my race. I lost out on a ton of experience in that trial.”
“It doesn’t matter. You’ll never catch up to them,” Erik suddenly said.
Marie frowned. “What is going on with you?”
“Nothing, sorry. I just…” Erik trailed off. They won’t understand. How can I be the Sword of Salvation if I can’t save anyone? Both the individual dungeon and the events in Dereth had shown him that he was just a supporting character in his mind.
